What can I rent?

  • The Rental Center has a wide variety of items to choose from, including camping equipment, canoes and kayaks, cross country skis and snowshoes, as well as sports equipment for groups, clubs, parties, and picnics.
  • At Outdoor Adventures we believe in keeping our prices affordable for everyone, especially students, so we offer the same low price to all of our customers.

Should I reserve the equipment I need?

  • We strongly encourage reservations during the summer months and when renting cross country skis.  You can reserve equipment over the phone or in person at the Outdoor Adventures Center with a Visa, or MasterCard.  University departments and groups can use a Shortcode or SOAS accounts, however we do not accept UM purchasing cards.

Can I use my credit card?

  • Yes!  In fact, a credit card is required to guarantee your reservation.  You can choose to pay with cash or check but we will need your plastic on file for any damages or late fees.

Do I have to be affiliated with the U of M to rent equipment?

  • Outdoor Adventures' services are available to everyone!  We cater to the U of M's students, faculty, staff, and alumni but as a member of the general public you can still take advantage of the many services Outdoor Adventures has to offer - and at the same price!

Can someone else pick up the equipment I have reserved?

  • When making a reservation please indicate the name of the person picking up the equipment so we can be sure it's in the right hands when it leaves the Rental Center.  If it's a last minute change of plans then be sure to pass off your reservation information to whoever is picking up the equipment.

Can I pick up or return equipment when the Rental Center is closed?

  • Rental pick-ups and returns are only allowed during Rental Center business hours.  Unauthorized returns are subject to a $20 per rental item fee and/or the replacement cost of the item(s). Please see our Equipment Rental Policies
