| RECREATION COORDINATORS |
 |
Dreyson Byker
Dreyson recently graduated from the University with a degree in sociology. Entering the real world, he's taking the natural path of any sociology major and going into outdoor recreation, as the Interim Recreation Coordinator for OA. His outdoor experiences include hiking at Pictured Rocks, Dogsledding in the U.P., and Hiking the Grand Canyon. He also spent a month of the summer seakayaking and backpacking in Alaska and looks forward to kayaking in the Everglades over spring break. Most recently, Dreyson has piqued an interest in rock climbing and enjoys spending time at the MRock. For the next 9 months, the OA Rental Center will be his home as he prepares to travel and take the next steps in his post college life. |

Elizabeth Zollweg
Howdy Y'all! I'm Elizabeth Zollweg. I have been working at the University Of Michigan’s Department Of Recreational Sports for three years now. Primarily
as the Recreation Coordinator of the Challenge Program but recently have been stepping in to assist with some administrative tasks for OA. Prior to coming to Michigan, I was the Adventure Education Coordinator at Louisiana State University in the great city of Baton Rouge! However, two hurricanes, the heat and humidity encouraged me to look for jobs that were closer to my family. When I'm not working at the OA or the CP, I frequent my lakehouse to enjoy early mornings of wakeboarding, playing horseshoes, and spending time with my family and
friends. I am also an avid country concert goer!

backpacking, running, and climbing. I also enjoy peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches. My favorite place to rock climb is the Red River
Gorge in Kentucky. My favorite trips the are annual summer backpacking
trips that I go on with a group of friends. |

Casey Krauss
Hi, I’m Casey and I am currently a junior in the Elementary Education Program- majoring in integrated science and minoring in mathematics. I have grown up canoeing and hiking every summer in the northern Canadian wilderness, for the past nine years, at a camp called Bil-O-Wood. I love snowboarding, running, and have recently picked up the hobby of kayaking with my mom. I just started working at OA this winter and surprisingly enough I look forward to waxing the cross-country skis. One day I hope to live on a sailboat and just live off the water.

Joe Halso
Joe Halso is a third year student looking to complete dual degrees in English and Program in the Environment. He has at least one thing in common with tigers, although they are not his favorite animal. He loves blue bird days, falling snow, rapping quietly, big fires, free ice cream, making music, and quoting those funnier than himself. Bouldering, skiing, running and setting up tents inside the Outdoor Adventures center all tickle his outdoor fancy. If he was to win a paper plate award with Outdoor Adventures it would probably be for sweeping. It was once suggested that Joe has as much charm as a bracelet full of dangly things, and so much game sense that he could open his own bank? qualities he knows will only grow through his work with Outdoor Adventures.

Missy Neuman
Hey! My name is Missy and I am a sophomore majoring in global health (specifically Africa) with a pre-med focus. Someday I hope to travel a lot and use my medical skills to help people in need. I got involved with OA after going on the Grand Canyon Backpacking Spring Break Trip! I am addicted to medical dramas, love to hibernate for long periods of time, and think that rain is the best type of weather. My favorite outdoor activities include backpacking, camping, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and climbing. One of my many life goals is to backpack in every US National Park! So far Yosemite is my favorite! |

Brandon Conradis
Hi, I’m Brandon. I’m from Maryland (right outside of Washington, D.C.). I’m a sophomore in LS&A, pursuing a major/minor concentration in Film and Chinese, respectively. I went on the Joshua Tree trip last spring, and that’s how I met these wonderful people. I work at both the rental center and MRock, so stop by either one and give me a shout one day. In my spare time I love writing, reading, working out, taking nightly walks by my lonesome to ponder deep philosophical thoughts, and eating my Dad’s famous cheese cookies. |
 |
Neale Batra
Neale joins the OA crew as an incoming freshman at the Residential College. Growing up in Ann Arbor he partook in as much of the outdoors world as possible and loves to climb rock and ice, mountain bike, whitewater kayak, canoe, sail, backpack, ski, and go mountaineering. He enjoys teaching youth and yearns to become an outdoor adventure educator someday.
In his other life he is a random, yet thoughtful fellow who has never worn blue jeans. He has played the violin for 10 years and loves classical music as well as Celtic music jam sessions. |

Andrea Moehle
Hello! I'm a senior going into Elementary Education - majoring in Science and minoring in English. I'm from Northville, Michigan and grew up camping, bike riding, playing soccer and running. I love being outside - spend my summers driving around in pick up trucks doing emergency home repair in the Appalachian Mountains. My favorite outdoor pursuits include distance running, backpacking, rope swings, camping, and anything involving mountains. |
 |
Jamie Wasielewski
Jamie is now a fourth year student at her third college pretending to get a degree with
some significance. Sailing and soccer first inspired her love of the outdoors, but it was
her nine years of training as a competitive gymnast under florescent lights in a building
without windows that compelled Jamie to explore the backcountry. When she quit, she
finally had time to indulge in many random escapades that included scuba diving, sailing,
kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, and cycling. Jamie loves working at OA because it
gives her in excuse to do less schoolwork and create mayhem. For the same reasons, she
also practices claythrowing (aka ceramics), compiles people's life stories, and
contemplates traveling around the world. Her favorite word is subterfuge. |

| M ROCK |
|
Jordan Washburn
Occupation: Student, part time employee at the M-Rock
Major: Linguistics (and hopefully computer science)
Interests: Watching horrible movies and complaining about them…the entire time… (bonus points for the movies with bad dubbing), hot sticky Michigan weather, freezing biting Michigan wind, lack of punctuation and run-on sentences, and the improper use of their there they’re. |
|
Adam Fisher
Adam is an Ann Arbor townie and is now a junior at UM. He enjoys doing almost anything outdoors including camping, canoeing, backpacking, climbing, caving, running, etc... He is also a member of the UM bass fishing team you didn't know existed. His other interests include politics, music, friends, and supporting wolverine football... no
matter what.

|
Adam Miller
Adam is from the little town of Spring Lake, MI. He's had the opportunity to go on numerous hiking trips but his favorites include hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains or on Isle Royale in Lake Superior. Recently he has been fortunate enough to start learning to Kite Board as well as surf. |
|
Michelle Svetkoff
Michelle started working at OA because she could rock climb for free and harass Mike,
Chris, and Jordan while getting paid. Michelle loves soccer, rock climbing, piano, and
playing pool. She had spaghetti for the first time 3 days ago...which gave her the same
feeling as when you find random money in your coat pocket. She loves her job (when
Jordan is not there) and can't wait to keep learning more about climbing. |

Dave Pawlowski
Dave is a 3rd year Ph. D. student in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences at the U of
M studying the dynamics of the thermosphere and ionosphere through the use of a
hydro-dynamics model. He has been active in outdoors activities for most of his life,
but fell in love with climbing as an undergrad in Illinois, and moved to Utah to have
easy access to some of the best climbing and skiing the US has to offer in 2003. Dave's
favorite ski hole is the back-country around Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, and favorite
climbing stop is Red Rocks State Park, just outside of Vegas. Dave has been teaching
all levels of climbing for 6 years, and currently teaches the introductory U-Move rock
climbing class for Outdoor Adventures. |

Chris Mullins
Hey!!! I’m Chris. I’m a 3rd year LS&A student pursuing a General Studies degree with a concentration in Advertising. I enjoy, video games, facebooking, vacations to places that have beaches/sunshine, food eating contests, shiny things, hanging out with friends, gumball machines, talking in fake accents, picnics, my brother Mike, my co-workers, girls, hobbies, ping-pong, and rainbow sprinkles on cake batter ice cream. I love climbing and working at MRock so you should come down and see me sometime and maybe I will show you my mad climbing skills which I attribute completely to my four arms. |
|
Mike Mullins
Mike Mullins, brother of Chris Mullins--4th year IOE Major, Mathematics Minor from Ann Arbor, Second year OA staff member. Mike loves darts, pool, video games, leap frog, dodge ball, cooking, badminton or bocce ball, and pretty much anything else involving competition. A fun loving character who tends to lighten up the mood whenever possible, but is sure to always get it done. Mike loves to climb and a close second to that is teaching others how to climb. |
|
Sean Smith
Sean Smith is a sophomore pursuing dual degrees in Theater Performance (BTA), Psychology and a Native American Studies minor. He has kept active through the years in competitive tennis, swim and cross country teams, while always finding time for his first love- music. He plays cello, piano, guitar and sings for UM’s Amazin’ Blue a cappella. He joined Outdoor Adventures in Fall 2007 to become a better climber, and to gain more experience in the great outdoors. Sean hopes to move to New York after graduation and “make it” as an actor; his backup plan involves backpacking across the world, living cheaply and making the most of every moment. |

Amy Tice
Hello, my name is Amy I am orginally from Maryland and came to MI to attend school at Eastern Michigan Unviersity. I am an elementary education major (major in reading and minor in math with a specailty in urban settings,). I have been rock climbing for about a year and have spent a week in Mokule'ia in Hawaii doing some awesome climbing with amazing people. I have also done some climbing at the Red in Kentucky. My climbing future consists of planning a trip to Switzerland, climbing in as many cool places (like Mallorca), and deep water soloing. Justin Bonebrake
'Sup? I'm Justin Bonebrake, a Junior Political Science Major in LSA Honors with aspirations toward Law School. I grew up in Muskegon, MI but as of recently relocated to a more permanent residence in Ann Arbor because it's such a sweet place to be. I love being out of doors, in the sun, or climbing. This summer I was fortunate enough to spend a month on the road exploring our countries great national forests and much of the West. I would spend my entire life that way if I could but, alas my bank account won't permit it. I hope to meet you either at the rock-wall or the rental center. Advice: BE HAPPY! |

Emily Baecher
Why, hello! I’m a third year undergrad at U of M in Program in the Environment. My home town is Amherst, Massachusetts. I’ve spent most of my life running around, trying to do as many sports as I possibly can. I currently play for the Michigan club women’s ultimate frisbee team, enjoy running road races and triathlons and recently have become totally jazzed about climbing. I’m feeling a little lukewarm about wallyball- but I’m willing to give it another chance… I love coaching and teaching- I spend most of my summer telling kids how to throw frisbees and now am learning to teach people to climb. It’s a tough life, I know. |
