MEMBERSHIPS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

gif What are the benefits of having a Rec Sports membership?
There are many benefits to a Rec Sports membership. Members have access to 3 indoor recreational facilities with pools during drop-in building hours. Participation reduces stress and keeps you fit.

You can work out before or after work, during your noon hour and on the weekends. For a nominal fee, you can enjoy a variety of exercise and relaxation classes. Encourage others in your office to join and sign up a team to play intramural sports or rent the climbing wall.

gif Can individuals buy a membership that allows access to just the pools or cardio/weight rooms?
No, our memberships provide access to all Rec Sports facilities (3 indoor facilities with pools) for about 66 cents per day, depending on your membership. We do not have an initiation fee or application fee so take advantage of all of the facilities available to you.

gif Can I bring a friend who isn't a student or isn't a U-M employee to the facilities?
Yes! Guest passes are available for purchase and any member is able to bring guests to the facilities. A daily guest pass is good at all facilities for unlimited re-entries in a one-day period.

Limit four guests per member/per day. Guest passes are $10 per day per guest. Members must be present at time of purchase to receive the guest pass.

gif What forms of payment do you accept?
You can pay with check, cash or credit card. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. Faculty and staff can use payroll deduction, provided the appointment is at least half-time.

gif Will I have access to Intramural sports with my membership?
Currently enrolled students, as well as faculty and staff who are Rec Sports members, are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports. Spouses, who are members, are eligible but must play on the same team as their spouse. All other membership categories are not eligible to participate in the intramural program.

gif As a faculty/staff member, can my spouse or children join as well?
Yes, spouses and children, up to age 25, are eligible to join for the same duration as the faculty or staff member. Please check the "purchasing membership" in the left menu for details.

You may sponsor unlimited persons for a sponsored adult membership. Sponsored Adult members are not eligible to sponsor others for membership, including family members.

gif How do I use the facilities?
Your M-Card is your key to all recreation facilities. Once your fees have been paid or your membership purchased, your M-Card will be activated to allow access to the facilities. Your M-Card will be scanned each time you enter any building. It's that easy!

When a Sponsored Adult or Alumni membership is purchased, the individual must obtain an M-Card at one of the following sites: CCRB Main Office, Central Campus Entrée Office, North Campus Entrée Office or Wolverine Tower.

gif How can I cancel my membership?
Yes, memberships can be cancelled a $25 cancellation fee will be assesse for non-perpetual memberships. If your membership is a perpetual membership, there is a $100 termination fee for cancellation prior to your 12-month membership renewal date. Students are not able to opt out of the student fee.

Please call or visit one of our Business Offices or review your membership agreement for information on canceling your membership.

gif Where is my mail renewal letter?
We no longer do one large mailing in the summer. We now do a "rolling mailing," and we mail expiration letters to members approximately one month prior to expiration.

gif Can I renew on-line?
Yes! Choose "On-Line Registration" from the menu at left to renew your membership. At this time, we do not accept new members through our online registration system - new members must visit one of our facilities to purchase their memberships.
