CPR, FIRST AID, AND LIFEGUARDING CLASSES
The Deptartment of Recreational Sports offers CPR and Lifeguarding classes throughout the year. Most classes are at the CCRB on 401 Washtenaw.
CPR and First Aid for beginners on Saturday, December 19 from 9:30am - 5:30pm. Cost $50.
CPR/AED Review on Tuesday, November 10 from 6pm - 9:30pm. Cost $40.
The Washtenaw County Red Cross will be offering a Lifeguard class beginning October 21st. Please visit their website for more information.
Review classes are offered for individuals with current certification or whose certification has expired within one year. CPR certifications are good for 1 year.
First Aid and Lifeguard certifications are good for 3 years.
Lifeguard classes have a prerequisite that consists of two swimming tests.
1) Swimming 300 yards continuously using both front crawl and breaststroke.
2) Swimming one length, performing a surface dive to retrieve a 10lb object and then swimming back to the starting point in less than 1 minute, 40 seconds
