Outdoor Adventures' rental facility offers quality and affordable outdoor and recreational equipment to U of M students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. We have a wide range of items available to rent. From tents, backpacks, and stoves to volleyball sets and tug-of-war ropes, the Rental Center has what you need!

Do I have to be affiliated with U of M to rent equipment?
No! Outdoor Adventures’ services are available to everyone.
What can I rent?
The Rental Center has a wide variety of items to choose from including camping equipment, canoes, kayaks, cross country skis, snowshoes, volleyball sets, croquet sets, tug-o-war ropes, and much more. Check out our list of rental/gear rates.
Should I reserve the equipment I need?
We strongly recommend that you make a reservation to ensure that the gear you need is available when you need it.
How do I reserve equipment?
You can make a reservation by calling us at the rental center or by coming in to make the reservation in person. We will need a credit card number (VISA or Mastercard) and your contact information to make this reservation.
How do I pay?
You can pay with credit card (VISA or Mastercard), check, or cash. University departments and groups can use a Shortcode or an SOAS account, but we do not accept UM purchasing cards.
Can someone else pick up the gear I have reserved?
Yes! When making a reservation please indicate the name of the person picking up the equipment so we can be sure the equipment is in the right hands when it leaves the Rental Center. If it’s a last minute change of plans then be sure to pass off your reservation information to whoever is picking up the equipment.

USED EQUIPMENT FOR SALE
The Rental Center occasionally releases a surplus of used equipment to Property Disposition to be sold at the Rental Center. This equipment must be paid for at Property Disposition after obtaining a form from the Rental Center. Once paid for, a receipt must be brought to the Rental Center in order to pick up the equipment. Please feel free to stop by the Rental Center to look at what is available or give us a call to ask some questions.
